Package for Ubuntu 24.04 and Debian 12 or newer, amd64 and arm64, with systemd. It sets up Docker if needed, runs Submify in Docker with a PostgreSQL database and generated secrets, and starts it. Read the script first, or download the .deb and run sudo apt install ./file.deb.

Requires Docker Engine and the Compose v2 plugin. Once the containers are up, open http://localhost:2512 and create your first account at /register.
Requirements
- Docker Engine
- 20.10 or newer
- Docker Compose
- v2 plugin
- RAM
- 512 MB minimum
- Disk
- ~2 GB for images + data
The Ubuntu / Debian package
- Installs a systemd service that runs the version-pinned Submify containers with Docker Compose. It is labelled “runs in Docker” because it is not a native binary.
- Installs Docker first if it is missing, and checks the download’s SHA-256 before installing.
- Generates database passwords and secrets on first install into
/etc/submify/submify.env(mode 0600). They survive upgrades, removal and purge. - Opens on
http://localhost:2512.
Update by running the installer again, or sudo apt install ./submify_<version>_amd64.deb. Remove with sudo apt remove submify; settings and the Docker volumes (submify_pg_data and submify_uploads) are kept. Back up before upgrading.
